(Brisbane, AUSTRALIA (March 9, 2020) – MPower MSL (ASX:MPW) (MSL) today announced the successful Stage 1 completion of the implementation of the World Handicap System (WHS) across Australia, Norway, Iceland, Latvia, Finland and Estonia.
The WHS is a joint initiative of golf’s two international governing bodies, The R&A and the United States Golf Association (USGA). These two bodies have worked together with the world’s major handicapping authorities to develop a single handicap system for the game to enable as many golfers as possible to obtain and maintain a handicap index and use that handicap to compete or play a casual round with players from other regions on a fair basis.
“At the end of January Australia was the first country to go live with WHS outside of the USGA. More than 400,000 golfers were successfully re-handicapped on GOLF Link, Australia’s national computerised handicapping service, across millions and millions of rounds of golf, with the data synced and updated on the Golf Australia website,” Nick Thornton, General Manager of MPower Golf. “We have also successfully implemented WHS across a number of European Golf Federations through our GolfBox entity across February and March, bringing the number of our customers’ golfers re-handicapped by WHS to over 1 million.”
MSL will be facilitating further implementations of WHS for other European golf federations, including Denmark and Switzerland over the coming months.
